Matt P and his Dad, made the trip over here for a Saturday of backwater fishing. Matt latched onto this beautiful 24" redfish feeding on set of docks along one of our waterways. Great fish and great fight on 12# test. Nice going, Matt...Note: Late fall and early winter is the best time of year here for redfish.

IT MAY BE COLD ELSEWHERE BUT FISHING IS HOT HERE
Winter fishing provides good to great action here both in the backwaters and on the nearshore reefs. As the late December and January fronts sweep through, the water chills down and turns on the cold water species......water temps can get down to 55 on a deep cold snap. In the backwaters you can expect to catch sheepshead to 5-6 lbs, some snapper, pompano, seatrout, whiting and black drum. Maybe even a redfish. In the passes the Spanish mackerel are hot action along with small bluefish, pompano and trout. All of these on jigs or shrimp rigs worked on light tackle are a barrel of fun. Nearshore the mackerel are the main entertainment and they are mixed in with small kingfish and bonito. Bottom fishing on the nearshore reefs will get you hot sheepshead and triggerfish action. Gag grouper will also be available nearshore these two months. All in all, good opportunity awaits....

We are located right off the Marco River and just 20 minutes south of a pristine remote barrier island known as Key Island. This island is legend for shelling.On the trip back and forth you'll probably get to see quite a few dolphin. You can get right up alongside as they cavort in the shallow waters of the pass. You can charter a trip where we do fishing, shelling and sightseeing in whatever combination you would like. Dawn Patrol has reduced the number of charters that will be run to mornings only and no more than five per week. Knowing that would cause a disruption for past and present customers, we have established an affiliation with another charter operation that works out of the same marina. Sunshine Tours Inc will provide a seamless back up to Dawn Patrol with two similiar boats and a set of top notch experienced captains to provide the same type of charters with the same family emphasis and quality as Dawn Patrol. And the good news is that the rates will be in keeping with our "AFFORDABLE RATE" headline. If you call Dawn Patrol for a reservation, and we are already booked, we will arrange the contact with Sunshine Tours and insure you get the special pricing.........the same for email contacts. This affiliation arrangement has been in operation since November 07 and has worked without a hitch for dozens of customers.
