FEBRUARY - MARCH 2008
ABOUT THE PHOTO
Lynn struggled to land this 29" redfish in the backwaters a month back.........but with the help
of her husband Marvin, an expert on the landing net, she landed and then released this beautiful fish. Nice going Lynn (and Marvin)
WINTER FISHING IS HERE
We are at the peak of the winter fishing season here in early February and the fishing is GOOD. In the backwaters it's tough not to tie onto a big sheepshead which are just about on every dock and structure around. They go from the keeper size of 12" all the way to 18-20". Nice fight and good on the table. Also on the inside we are seeing lots of trout both silver trout and spotted sea trout - whiting are in the same waters. Pompano are scattered but catchable in the passes as are small mackerel. In the deeper backwaters we still are seeing nice redfish and smaller snook. Nearshore, the reefs also hold tons of sheepshead along with triggerfish, snapper and smaller grouper. Mackerel are also active here and take jigs worked in the chum slick. You can get nice action almost anywhere.
FALL AND EARLY WINTER RESERVATIONS
If your planning a holiday or a stay here this winter, it's time to make a reservation. It is as simple as sending an email and provide a date, the number in your party and ask whatever questions you might have. I will be back to your quickly with answers; and dates available in your timeframe. When you decide on a date let me know and I will book. There is no deposit required as your word works here. That is all there is to it.
COMBO TRIPS
We are located right off the Marco River and just 20 minutes south of a pristine remote barrier island known as Key Island. This island is legend for shelling and taking a dip in the crystal clear warm water. On the trip back and forth you'll probably get to see quite a few dolphin. You can get right up alongside as they cavort in the shallow waters of the pass. You can charter a trip where we do fishing, shelling and sightseeing in whatever combination you would like. Price is the aame as a fishing trip and more varied if all your gang are not avid fisherpeople. Ask about our combo trips.
IMPORTANT - AFFILIATION WITH ANOTHER CHARTER
Dawn Patrol has reduced the number of charters that will be run to mornings only and no more than five per week. Knowing that would cause a disruption for past and present customers, we have established an affiliation with another charter operation that works out of the same marina. Sunshine Tours Inc will provide a seamless back up to Dawn Patrol with two similiar boats and a set of top notch experienced captains to provide the same type of charters with the same family emphasis and quality as Dawn Patrol. And the good news is that the rates will be in keeping with our "AFFORDABLE RATE" headline. We are in process of setting up a link on this site so you can visualize the new arrangement and contact them directly. But in the meantime please contact Dawn Patrol as usual and we will make the booking arrangements for you
